**Hubballi, February 15, 2025** – G.R. Andanimath, a highly respected advocate and legal educator from North Karnataka, passed away on Saturday at the age of 89. Mr. Andanimath, known for his exceptional advocacy skills and contributions to legal education, is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
Throughout his career, Mr. Andanimath held various positions within the Hubballi Bar Association, mentoring numerous individuals who went on to become judges in district courts and the High Court of Karnataka. Beyond his legal practice, he was deeply involved in social service and philanthropy, notably serving as chairman of the Chikenakoppa Ashrama for the Visually Impaired. He also represented prominent religious institutions, including the Moorusavir Mutt and Siddharoodh Mutt in Hubballi.
His passing has been met with widespread mourning. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Ministers Jagadish Shettar and Basavaraj Bommai, and Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti were among those who expressed their condolences. Mr. Shettar, a former student of Mr. Andanimath, described him as a masterful advocate whose courtroom skills impressed many.
