**Mumbai, February 15, 2025** – Vicky Kaushal starrer “Chhaava,” released on Valentine’s Day, has created box office history. The film, a biographical drama depicting the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Shivaji Maharaj, achieved the biggest opening of 2025, surpassing all Bollywood and recent South Indian releases.

Preliminary figures reveal a phenomenal Day 1 collection of ₹33.1 crore in India, and ₹36.5 crore by 10:40 AM on Day 2, according to Sacnilk. This brings the film’s two-day total to a staggering ₹69.6 crore (unofficial figures). This surpasses not only the lifetime collections of several recent Bollywood releases like “Azaad,” “Emergency,” “Loveyatri,” and “Badass Ravikumar” (combined total of ₹39.45 crore), but also the current total of “Deva” (₹33.1 crore) within just a few hours. Maddock Films, the production house, has confirmed these figures are still subject to change. However, even with the preliminary data, “Chhaava” has already recouped more than half its reported ₹130 crore budget.

The film, directed by Laxman Utekar and also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Akshay Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Vineet Kumar Singh, has generated significant buzz since its trailer release. Its phenomenal performance solidifies its position as a major box office success.
