Wed Feb 12 14:58:26 UTC 2025: ## Jordan Rejects Trump’s Gaza Relocation Plan, Reiterates Support for Two-State Solution

**Amman, Jordan** – Jordan has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, including Jordan and Egypt, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stated in an interview with Al Jazeera. Safadi’s comments follow a White House meeting between King Abdullah II and President Trump, where Trump reiterated his plan, a proposal widely condemned as ethnic cleansing.

“There are fixed and steadfast Jordanian positions that will not change… the Palestinians cannot be transferred to Egypt, Jordan, or any Arab state,” Safadi emphasized. He reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to a two-state solution that guarantees Palestinian rights, including the establishment of an independent state on their homeland.

While King Abdullah avoided directly contradicting Trump during their meeting, he alluded to an alternative plan being developed by Egypt. He confirmed Jordan’s willingness to accept 2,000 Palestinian children requiring medical treatment, but underscored that Jordan would act in its own best interests regarding the broader relocation proposal. Jordan already hosts over 2 million Palestinian refugees.

Safadi revealed that Arab nations are collaborating on a plan to rebuild Gaza without displacing its population, a plan to be presented at a later date. He stated that Jordan will work with the US to rebuild Gaza, but without relocating its residents.

Trump’s plan, which envisions a Gaza Strip transformed into a resort-like area, has been met with widespread international criticism. The Palestinian Authority, Hamas, numerous Arab nations, and China have all voiced strong opposition, emphasizing that Gaza belongs to the Palestinians. Critics argue that Trump’s vision ignores the complex political realities and deep-rooted connection Palestinians have to their land.
