Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – February 12, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a major push for “Work From Home” initiatives, particularly aimed at increasing women’s participation in the workforce. This initiative, announced on International Day of Women and Girls in Science, aligns with the state’s IT & GCC Policy 4.0, which offers incentives for developing IT office spaces across the state and supports employment generation at the grassroots level.
Mr. Naidu highlighted the shift in the work landscape following the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the potential of remote work, co-working spaces, and neighborhood workspaces to create flexible and productive environments for both businesses and employees. He reiterated his commitment to empowering women, stating that educated women should not be confined to homemaking roles. The government aims to provide employment opportunities through these flexible work models, addressing challenges faced by skilled women due to family responsibilities.
The initiative includes developing co-working and neighborhood working spaces, particularly in rural areas, along with training programs to equip individuals with necessary skills. Mr. Naidu expressed confidence that these measures will foster greater workforce participation, especially among women professionals who will benefit from flexible remote and hybrid work options. This follows a December 2024 review meeting where he directed officials to implement these plans.
