**THANJAVUR, February 10, 2025** – The Sri Mariamman Temple in Punnainallur, Thanjavur, celebrated its Kumbabhishekam (consecration ceremony) on Monday, February 10th, after two decades. The ceremony, which included elaborate yaga salai pujas and homams, culminated in the pouring of sanctified water onto the temple’s vimanams, gopurams, and idols.

Thousands of devotees, many observing from nearby buildings due to restricted access during the consecration period, witnessed the event. Over 1,000 police personnel ensured the smooth conduct of the festivities. Local dignitaries, including Collector B. Priyanka Pankajam and several MLAs, attended the ceremony.

In a heartwarming display of interfaith harmony, members of the local Muslim community participated in the celebrations. On Sunday, February 9th, Muslim men and women presented offerings of fresh and dry fruits at the yaga salai. This gesture highlighted the peaceful coexistence within the community.
