Sun Feb 09 18:35:42 UTC 2025: ## India Clinches Unassailable Lead, Defeating England by 4 Wickets in Thrilling ODI

**Cuttack, India** – India secured a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against England with a thrilling four-wicket victory on Sunday. Despite a power outage briefly halting play, India chased down England’s 304-run target in 44.3 overs, thanks to a stunning century by captain Rohit Sharma (119 runs off 90 balls) and crucial contributions from Shubman Gill (60 runs off 52 balls) and Axar Patel (41*).

England, winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a challenging total, with Ben Duckett (65) and Joe Root (69) leading the charge. However, Ravindra Jadeja’s impressive 3-wicket haul restricted England’s momentum. Liam Livingstone (41) also contributed significantly to the total before being run out in the final stages.

India’s chase wasn’t without its hiccups. A brief power outage during the innings disrupted the flow, but the team regrouped effectively. While Virat Kohli had a short stay at the crease (5 runs), Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja (11*) steered India home with an unbeaten partnership.

The match saw several crucial wickets for both sides. Jamie Overton took two wickets for England, while for India, besides Jadeja’s three, Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Hardik Pandya, and Varun Chakravarthy each claimed one wicket.

Changes were made to both teams’ line-ups. India welcomed back Virat Kohli and Varun Chakravarthy, while England brought in Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson, and Jamie Overton.

The final ODI will be played in Hyderabad on February 12th. The series is now effectively decided in India’s favor.
