Mon Feb 10 13:00:00 UTC 2025: ## French Husband Sentenced to 20 Years, Faces Further Investigations into Past Crimes

**Paris, France** – Dominique Pelicot, already serving a 20-year sentence for drugging and facilitating the rape of his wife, Gisèle, over a decade, is now facing investigations into potential earlier crimes. Pelicot’s case, which shocked France and made his wife a feminist icon, is suspected to be just the tip of the iceberg.

A court recently convicted Pelicot for the horrific abuse of his wife between 2011 and 2020, involving dozens of men. However, new evidence links him to a 1999 attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman in the Paris region, a crime he confessed to after being confronted with DNA evidence.

Furthermore, Pelicot is also under investigation for the 1991 rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman. While he denies involvement in the murder, prosecutors have indicted him on charges related to both the 1991 and 1999 cases, citing striking similarities in the crimes. Both victims were young real estate agents in the Paris area, violently assaulted with a blade, tied up, drugged with ether, and had their lower bodies undressed. The distinctive placement of the victims’ shoes at both crime scenes further links the cases.

Gisèle Pelicot’s lawyer, Antoine Camus, stated his client fears she was not Pelicot’s only victim. The ongoing investigations highlight the possibility of a serial offender and underscore the gravity of Pelicot’s crimes.
