Mon Feb 10 12:35:10 UTC 2025: **Police Arrest Armed Reserve Constable for Illegal Weapon Possession**
VIRUDHUNAGAR, February 10, 2025 – An Armed Reserve Police Constable, R. Dhanushkodi, was arrested on Sunday for illegal possession of a pistol and five rounds of ammunition in Poosaripatti near Vachchakarapatti. A second, unidentified suspect, aged 25-30, escaped.
According to police, villagers noticed suspicious activity and intercepted the two men on a motorbike. During questioning, the constable, Dhanushkodi, behaved suspiciously, and a search revealed a pistol and ammunition hidden in the bike’s petrol tank. While Dhanushkodi was apprehended, his accomplice fled.
The police are currently investigating how Dhanushkodi obtained the weapon and are searching for the second suspect. The motive for their presence in Poosaripatti remains under investigation. Both individuals have been booked under the Arms Act.
