**New Delhi, February 9, 2025** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal attributed the party’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections to the arrogance of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. In a social media post featuring an image of Draupadi’s humiliation from the Mahabharata, Maliwal drew parallels between the epic’s depiction of arrogance and the AAP’s electoral loss. She further compared Kejriwal’s arrogance to that of Ravana, stating that even Ravana’s arrogance ultimately led to his downfall.
Maliwal, who had a falling out with the AAP last year, also cited the deteriorating conditions in Delhi as a factor contributing to the defeat. She highlighted issues such as garbage accumulation, water shortages, Yamuna river pollution, and high air pollution levels. She claimed to have previously warned the party about the consequences of ignoring these problems.
In addition, Maliwal referenced a prior assault she allegedly suffered at the hands of a Kejriwal aide, framing it as another example of the party’s hubris and a contributing factor to their electoral setback. She stated that the Delhi public ultimately held the AAP accountable for broken promises and its actions against her.
