Colombo, Sri Lanka – Australian captain Steve Smith scored his 36th Test century on February 8th, moving him into a tie for fifth place on the all-time list. His knock of 120 in the second Test against Sri Lanka propelled Australia to a strong 330/3 at the end of day two. Smith now shares the fifth spot with Rahul Dravid and Joe Root. Sachin Tendulkar remains at the top of the list with 51 Test centuries. This is Smith’s 48th century across all formats, tying him with Dravid and Rohit Sharma. Smith’s achievement was further enhanced by teammate Travis Head’s unbeaten century (139). Sri Lanka were earlier bowled out for 257 in their first innings.
