**Kochi, February 6, 2025** – The Kerala High Court has granted permission for a limited fireworks display at the Ernakulam Siva Temple’s annual festival on February 8th and 10th. The decision, announced late Thursday, overturns an earlier rejection by the District Collector of the devaswom’s (temple administration) request.
Justice T.R. Ravi’s order stipulates strict conditions. Fireworks must be displayed using only a portable magazine brought to the site, with no permanent storage allowed. Authorities, including the Revenue, Fire Safety, and Police departments, are responsible for ensuring the display adheres to the license and uses only permitted items.
The Fire Safety department must also designate spectator barricades to maintain a safe distance from the display area. The petitioner, the devaswom officer, is tasked with placing these barricades and preventing unauthorized access to the restricted zone. The court emphasized that the display must proceed smoothly and safely in accordance with all regulations.
