Thu Feb 06 19:06:08 UTC 2025: ## Ajith Kumar’s “Vidaa Muyarchi” Receives Mixed Reviews
**Chennai, February 6:** Ajith Kumar’s highly anticipated film, “Vidaa Muyarchi,” directed by Magizh Thirumeni, hit theaters today. The film, produced by Lyca Productions and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, also stars Trisha, Regina Cassandra, Arjun, and Arvind Swami.
The movie revolves around Arjun (Ajith) and his estranged wife, Kayal (Trisha), who decides to divorce him. When Trisha disappears, Arjun embarks on a mission to find her, uncovering a kidnapping plot along the way.
Initial reviews have been mixed. While praised for its technical aspects – particularly the cinematography by Om Prakash, Anirudh’s background score, and the action sequences (with special mention of a car chase scene) – the film’s storyline has received criticism for lacking intrigue.
Several reviews, including those from Dinamani and India Today, lauded Ajith’s performance, highlighting his departure from typical “heroic” roles. The Indian Express also praised Ajith’s acting, noting that scenes featuring Ajith and Arjun evoked a “Mankatha” feel. However, Dinamani criticized the film’s screenplay as weak and some dialogues as artificial.
The Hindu Tamil Thisai, while complimenting the performances of the supporting cast and Ajith’s nuanced portrayal, pointed out that the second half significantly drags, diminishing the overall thrill. Dinamani echoed this sentiment, noting a drop in quality from a promising first half.
While “Vidaa Muyarchi” is seen by some, like the Indian Express, as an example of rising standards in top-star films, others believe the film’s plot fails to fully utilize Ajith’s star power. Ultimately, whether “Vidaa Muyarchi” meets audience expectations remains to be seen.
