**Chennai, February 6, 2025** – A 40-year-old woman, Dhanalakshmi, was stabbed to death in Tiruvottiyur on Wednesday morning following an argument with her niece’s estranged husband, police said.
The incident occurred when M. Kalimuthu, the husband of Dhanalakshmi’s niece, Tamilselvi, visited Tamilselvi’s mother’s home in Vasantham Nagar. An argument ensued between Kalimuthu and Dhanalakshmi, escalating into a violent confrontation. Kalimuthu allegedly pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed Dhanalakshmi. He then fled the scene.
Police arrived at the scene and transported Dhanalakshmi’s body to Government Stanley hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Tiruvottiyur police are investigating the incident and have launched a search for Kalimuthu. The argument stemmed from ongoing personal issues between Kalimuthu and Tamilselvi, who had separated a year ago.
