**New Delhi, February 6, 2025** – Homeless residents of Delhi actively participated in Wednesday’s municipal elections, casting their ballots with hopes for better living conditions. Several voters interviewed by *The Hindu* expressed their desire for improved access to education and affordable food for their children.
Kheru Nisha, a resident of a Lodhi Colony night shelter, voted early, stating her vote was cast in the hope of providing for her five children. Another shelter resident, Sonia, voiced frustrations over broken promises of free education and uniforms, citing demands for bribes from government school employees as a barrier to her children’s education. Despite this, she voted believing her chosen candidate would address corruption.
