**Mysuru, February 6, 2025** – A Tamil Nadu-based company has been fined ₹1 lakh for manufacturing and selling substandard salt in Hanur town, Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka. The penalty was imposed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Geeta Huded under Section 51 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and its 2011 regulations.

The case originated from an inspection conducted by Kollegal Taluk Food Safety Officer Srinivas on July 29, 2024, at Sri Mahadeshwara stores. A sample of “VKS True Salt” was found suspicious and sent to the Mysuru Divisional Food Laboratory for analysis. The lab confirmed the salt was substandard.

Following the analysis, a case was filed, leading to the court’s decision and the substantial fine levied against the company.
