BENGALURU, INDIA (February 5, 2025) – Two major rallies were held in Bengaluru today to mark World Cancer Day, highlighting the importance of early detection and prevention.

The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology organized an awareness march from the hospital to Lalbagh, attracting around 500 participants including medical professionals and students. Actor Vasishtha Simha and Kidwai administrator Naveen Bhat Y. flagged off the event. Dr. Bhat emphasized the role of early screening, vaccination, and healthy lifestyles in controlling cancer, highlighting the state government’s support for diagnosis and treatment at the institute. Mr. Simha urged the public to overcome anxiety surrounding cancer through awareness and prompt treatment.

Separately, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bengaluru branch held a rally, with president Vijayanand stressing the preventative potential of vaccinations against virus-related cancers and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. He also highlighted the need to avoid smoking, alcohol, and tobacco. Over 200 people, including staff from Regal Hospital and Dasappa Memorial Institute of Oncology, participated. Both events underscored the crucial message of early detection and preventative measures in combating cancer.
