Wed Feb 05 01:43:00 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka to Deploy AI-Powered CCTV Surveillance for SSLC Exams
**Bengaluru, February 5, 2025** – The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) will utilize AI-powered CCTV cameras to monitor this year’s class 10 (SSLC) exams, escalating its efforts to curb exam irregularities. The initiative, a significant upgrade from 2024’s full-scale webcasting, will focus on “sensitive” and “hypersensitive” exam centers across the state, along with all centers in Bengaluru’s North and South Educational Districts.
A pilot project in collaboration with Microsoft will provide customized software to analyze video feeds for malpractice. The AI system will automatically flag suspicious activity, instantly generating reports with photographic and video evidence for immediate action by exam center chiefs, Deputy Commissioners, and KSEAB officials.
This move comes after a significant increase in student enrollment (over 9 lakh) compared to previous years. The 2023 SSLC exams saw numerous students debarred and over 60 invigilators suspended due to malpractice. While webcasting in 2024 reduced irregularities, it required extensive manual monitoring, prompting the shift to AI for increased efficiency and accuracy. The 2024-25 SSLC exams begin March 21, 2025.
