The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) led the global initiative, highlighting lifestyle changes and medical advancements as crucial in combating the disease.

Dr. Aditi Agarwal, Associate Director of Radiation Oncology at Max Hospital, Saket, provided insights into risk reduction for some of the most common cancers:

* **Breast Cancer:** Maintaining a healthy weight, physical activity, limiting alcohol consumption, and regular mammograms are key.
* **Lung Cancer:** Avoiding smoking, secondhand smoke, air pollution, and occupational exposures like asbestos are crucial.
* **Colorectal Cancer:** Limiting saturated fats and red meat, increasing dietary fiber intake, moderate exercise, and regular colonoscopies are recommended.
* **Prostate Cancer:** A healthy diet, regular checkups, and PSA tests are vital, alongside maintaining a healthy weight and reducing red meat consumption.
* **Stomach Cancer:** Avoiding processed, smoked, and barbecued foods, reducing red meat and spicy food intake, and increasing fiber consumption can help.
* **Liver Cancer:** Vaccination against Hepatitis B and C, avoiding excessive alcohol, and maintaining a healthy weight are important preventative measures.
* **Cervical Cancer:** HPV vaccination, regular Pap smears, safe sex practices, maintaining hygiene, and limiting the number of children are crucial.
