Tue Feb 04 03:04:18 IST 2025: ## Reform UK Shocks UK Politics, Takes Poll Lead Over Labour and Conservatives

**London, February 4, 2025** – A new YouGov poll has sent shockwaves through British politics, suggesting Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party is now the most popular party in the country. The survey, conducted for The Times newspaper, shows Reform UK with 25% of the vote, edging out Labour (24%) and the Conservatives (21%) if a general election were held tomorrow.

While Reform UK’s one-point lead over Labour falls within the margin of error, the result marks the first time the party has topped a major public opinion poll. The poll, based on 2,465 respondents surveyed on February 2nd and 3rd, shows a two-point gain for Reform UK and a three-point drop for Labour since the last YouGov survey. The Conservatives also saw a one-point decline.

Reform UK, which advocates for a freeze on immigration, appears to be drawing support from former Conservative voters, potentially fuelled by a series of scandals that plagued the party in recent years. Party leader Nigel Farage, a prominent Brexit campaigner and ally of Donald Trump, celebrated the results, declaring on social media, “Britain wants reform.”

The surge in Reform UK’s popularity mirrors a broader trend across Europe, with far-right parties gaining ground in several countries. The Alternative for Germany (AfD), for example, is projected to achieve a strong second-place showing in upcoming national elections. While the next UK general election is not due until August 2029, Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer retains the option of calling an early election. The unexpected poll results will undoubtedly add significant pressure on the current government.
