Tue Feb 04 14:48:32 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Milk Cooperative Increases Farmer Incentive
**Ernakulam, Kerala – February 4, 2025** – The Ernakulam Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) of Milma announced a significant increase in incentives for dairy farmers. The additional incentive for milk procured will rise from ₹10 to ₹15 per litre, effective February 1st to March 31st, 2025.
This boost, approved by the ERCMPU director board, will benefit farmers and cooperatives across Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kottayam, and Idukki districts. Of the ₹15 incentive, ₹8 will directly go to farmers, with ₹7 allocated to the societies. One rupee from the society’s share will be contributed to the Regional Union.
The increased incentive is projected to cost the ERCMPU ₹24 crore from its operating profits. ERCMPU chairman C.N. Vathsalan Pillai stated that this represents the highest incentive offered within India’s dairy cooperative sector, reflecting the union’s commitment to fair pricing for farmers.
Beyond the incentive increase, Mr. Pillai also highlighted ongoing diversification projects and plans for new welfare schemes. He announced that construction is progressing on a second Milma Refresh vegetarian restaurant in Thrissur, expected to open by the end of March. Furthermore, the successful Chalakudy bakery unit will soon be replicated in Muvattupuzha and Marangattupally.
