Tue Feb 04 15:06:35 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Launches Massive Free Cancer Screening Program

**TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh –** Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Medical and Health, Satya Kumar Yadav, announced the launch of a state-wide free cancer diagnostic program on Tuesday. Over 1,500 teams, comprising 155 super specialists, 238 specialists, 4,000 ANMs, 4,000 medical officers, and 18,000 PHC staff, will conduct tests for breast, cervical, and oral cancer in villages across the state.

The program will utilize the existing network of Ayushman Bharat Arogya Mandirs. The Minister stated that 71 lakh people have already undergone free diagnostic tests, with 66,000 suspicious cases referred to Preventive Oncology Units (POUs) at teaching hospitals for further evaluation and treatment.

To manage the anticipated increase in patients at POUs, Tuesdays and Thursdays will be designated as “green channel” days for cancer screening referrals. The initiative was attended by BJP state secretary Kola Anand and Tirupati district president Samanchi Srinivas.
