**Puducherry, February 3, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (CPI) in Puducherry has strongly criticized the recently presented Union Budget, accusing the central government of neglecting the territory’s development needs. CPI secretary A. M. Saleem stated that while states like Bihar, ruled by a BJP ally, received numerous new schemes, Puducherry, also governed by a BJP ally (AINRC), has been overlooked.

Saleem highlighted the budget’s failure to address the concerns of the below poverty line (BPL) population and farmers demanding minimum support prices (MSP). He further criticized the reduction in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) allocation, fearing it will hinder job creation in rural areas. The CPI contends the budget offers nothing new to alleviate the suffering of the poor.
