Sat Feb 01 15:50:20 UTC 2025: ## BBMP Clears Illegal Occupation Near Nayandahalli Lake

**Bengaluru, February 1, 2025** – The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) successfully cleared 2.25 guntas of illegally occupied land near the main entrance of Nayandahalli lake on Saturday. The land, situated near Mysuru Road in the Govindarajanagar Assembly constituency, was being used by a timber shop operating from a makeshift shed.

Following instructions from BBMP Special Commissioner (Lakes) Preeti Gehlot and Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, civic officials conducted a land survey and ordered the removal of the encroachment. The timber shop owner complied voluntarily, removing their materials and dismantling the shed. The BBMP plans to fence the reclaimed land to prevent future encroachments.

The civic body stated that this action reflects their ongoing commitment to protecting Bengaluru’s water bodies from illegal occupation.
