**Islamabad, February 2, 2025** – At least 23 terrorists and 18 Pakistani security personnel were killed in clashes across Balochistan province over the past 24 hours, according to the Pakistani military. The intense fighting, part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations, saw significant engagements in Harnai and Kalat districts. Eleven militants were killed in Harnai on Saturday, with multiple terrorist hideouts destroyed. A further 12 were eliminated Friday night while attempting to establish roadblocks near Kalat.
The military vowed to continue operations until all those responsible for recent attacks are apprehended. Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, has seen a surge in violence by Baloch extremists targeting security forces and those from other provinces. This follows similar operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, where 10 terrorists were killed in five separate engagements.
The increased violence is attributed to a rise in attacks since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, exacerbated by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ending a ceasefire with the government. 2024 was reported as the deadliest year for Pakistani security forces in a decade, with 444 terror attacks resulting in the deaths of 685 personnel. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the recent Balochistan attacks.
