**Shivamogga, Karnataka, January 24, 2025** – A 21-year-old woman, Usha, died on Wednesday, January 22nd, after attempting suicide on January 15th. Usha, a resident of Singatagere-Hosur village in Hassan taluk, had been in a six-year relationship with Manoj of Idalla Kaval in the same taluk. According to police, Manoj allegedly accepted money and jewelry from Usha under the pretense of marriage, but subsequently refused to marry her. Distraught by this betrayal, Usha attempted to end her life at her home. She was admitted to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Her mother, Rathnamma, has filed a complaint with the Hassan Extension Police, accusing Manoj and his parents of being responsible for her daughter’s death.
