**Shimla, India** – The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved a pilot study on cannabis cultivation, paving the way for potential industrial and medicinal use. The study will be a joint venture between Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Krishi Vishvavidyalaya and Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture. The Agriculture Department will oversee the project.

In other key decisions, the cabinet extended disaster relief to families affected by a recent fire in Kullu’s Tandi village, providing compensation for damaged homes and livestock. A significant investment of Rs 56 crore was also approved for the procurement of robotic surgery equipment for hospitals in Shimla and Kangra, bringing advanced surgical capabilities to the state.

Further infrastructure improvements include the green light for a ropeway connecting Kullu’s bus stand to Peej Paragliding Point, aimed at boosting tourism. Himachal Roadways will receive 24 new air-conditioned luxury buses, while the State Taxes and Excise Department will be equipped with 100 motorbikes for enhanced enforcement.

Administrative changes include bringing various posts across different government departments under the state cadre for improved governance. Finally, the cabinet reviewed the revival of stalled hydro projects and restructuring within the education department.
