**Davos, Switzerland –** The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos saw global leaders call for urgent action on artificial intelligence regulation and social media reform on Thursday. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez specifically urged the European Union to overhaul social media governance to combat misinformation and online harassment.

The meeting also witnessed significant investment announcements for India. Telangana secured Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) totaling thousands of crores, most notably a ₹45,500 crore investment from Sun Petrochemicals for three hydroelectric projects. Meanwhile, Maharashtra announced a staggering ₹15.70 lakh crore in investments across 54 MoUs, promising the creation of 15.95 lakh jobs. This includes a substantial USD 8.3 billion investment from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bolster cloud computing infrastructure in the Mumbai region, part of a larger USD 12.7 billion commitment to India by 2030.
