**LAHORE, PAKISTAN** – With the Champions Trophy 2025 less than a month away (February 19th – March 9th), uncertainty looms over India’s participation. Following a dispute over hosting arrangements – India will play its matches in Dubai due to security concerns – new questions have arisen regarding the team’s jersey and captain Rohit Sharma’s attendance at the opening ceremony.
Reports suggest India may not display the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) logo on its jersey. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that the board will adhere to all ICC uniform regulations. “Whatever the other teams do regarding the logo and dress code, we are going to follow in true letter and spirit,” Saikia told PTI.
The participation of captain Rohit Sharma at the opening ceremony and captain’s meet in Pakistan remains undecided. Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali, while acknowledging online speculation about India’s actions, advised the PCB to formally protest the situation via email to the BCCI, suggesting a tit-for-tat approach regarding jersey logos and captain’s attendance for future ICC events in India. Ali suggests that escalating the issue publicly could harm world cricket and ICC officials. The matter highlights the ongoing tension between the two cricketing nations despite the compromise reached on the tournament’s venue.
