Sun Jan 19 17:28:27 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Row: Youth JAC Demands Grace Marks
**Vijayawada, January 19, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh Nirudyoga Youth JAC is renewing its call for the government to address irregularities in the 2022 police constable recruitment process. The group is demanding at least five grace marks be awarded to candidates, a significant number of whom were disqualified due to controversial questions.
According to JAC State president S. Hemanth Kumar, approximately 82% of aspirants failed the initial stages of the recruitment due to what they claim were flawed questions, including those with dual answers or falling outside the syllabus. The group points to a precedent set by the YSRCP government granting 15 grace marks to Sachivalayam job applicants, arguing for similar leniency in this case. This is especially crucial, they say, as this was the only recruitment notification issued in the last five years.
The qualifying marks for the written test were 80 for OCs, 70 for BCs, and 60 for SC/ST and ex-servicemen. The multi-stage process includes a preliminary exam, physical strength test, and a final written exam; however, most candidates were eliminated in the first stage.
While the previous YSRCP government did not respond to earlier requests and protests, leading some aspirants to approach the High Court, there is now renewed hope. Minister for Human Resource Development Nara Lokesh and other ruling party leaders have reportedly expressed positive consideration for the JAC’s plea. The JAC remains optimistic that the issue will be resolved soon.
