**New Delhi, January 20, 2025** – India secured a resounding victory in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, defeating Nepal 54-36 in a dominant final match played on Sunday, January 19th. The men’s team triumph follows their women’s counterparts who also clinched the championship title earlier.

Captain Pratik Waikar and tournament standout Ramji Kashyap led the Indian men’s team to victory, showcasing impressive sky dives and strategic plays throughout the match. India’s strong start, scoring 10 points in the first four minutes, set the tone for the game. Their consistent performance across all four turns, highlighted by Waikar’s multiple sky dives and contributions from Aditya Ganpule, proved insurmountable for Nepal. While Nepal put up a fight in the final turn, the Indian defense, anchored by Waikar and Sachin Bhargo, held firm.

India’s path to victory included impressive wins against Brazil, Peru, and Bhutan in the group stage, followed by knockout round victories over Bangladesh and South Africa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team via Twitter following their win.
