Sun Jan 19 10:25:17 UTC 2025: ## Israeli Far-Right Ministers Resign Over Gaza Ceasefire Deal

**Jerusalem, January 19, 2025** – Israel’s far-right Jewish Power party, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, resigned from the government on Sunday in protest of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. While the move doesn’t immediately threaten Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition government, it significantly destabilizes his already slim majority in parliament.

The party denounced the ceasefire as a “capitulation to Hamas,” criticizing the release of Palestinian prisoners and what it termed a renunciation of military achievements during the recent conflict. Ben-Gvir had previously threatened resignation if a deal involving hostage releases was approved. Despite the resignations, Netanyahu retains a narrow parliamentary majority. The news follows a week of intense negotiations to end the conflict in Gaza.
