**NEW DELHI** – Industrialist Naveen Jindal expressed optimism about India’s trajectory towards becoming a developed nation, highlighting the upcoming Budget 2025-26 as a key driver. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, the Jindal Steel and Power chairman emphasized that increasing per capita income is paramount to achieving this goal. He lauded Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s experience and expressed confidence in the budget’s ability to address the needs of all sections of society.
Jindal reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India and stressed the importance of collective effort to realize this ambition. He believes that a focus on improving the income of ordinary citizens is crucial.
Commenting on Donald Trump’s return to the presidency, Jindal expressed hope for improved India-US relations. He noted the strong people-to-people ties between the two nations, emphasizing the significant contribution of Indian citizens working in the US. He highlighted the positive relationship between PM Modi and Trump, anticipating strengthened bilateral ties under Trump’s second term and hoping for a resolution to global conflicts.
Jindal also briefly recounted his personal legal battle to secure the right for all Indians to hoist the national flag on any day. He recalled the 1993 incident where his flag was removed, leading to a ten-year legal fight culminating in a 2004 Supreme Court ruling affirming this right. He attributed the widespread display of the national flag today to this landmark victory and the work of the Flag Foundation of India, which he helped establish.
