Sat Jan 18 16:07:57 UTC 2025: ## Abandoned Foetus Leads Surat Police to Teen Couple Involved in Illegal Abortion
**Surat, Gujarat –** A gruesome discovery near a drain in Surat’s Apekshanagar on January 9th has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in connection with an illegal abortion. A group of children found a female foetus discarded amongst rubbish, attracting carrion birds. The foetus was declared dead upon arrival at the civil hospital.
Police investigation traced the foetus to a 16-year-old girl who had been attending school until January 3rd. The girl revealed that she had become pregnant after a relationship with a 17-year-old boy she met on Instagram. The boy, residing in Pandesara, allegedly fled to Uttar Pradesh and then Mumbai after learning of the pregnancy. From Mumbai, he sent her abortion pills. The girl admitted to taking the pills, resulting in a miscarriage at home, after which she disposed of the foetus.
Both the boy and girl have provided DNA samples, and the investigation is ongoing. The boy is currently detained and will be presented before a Juvenile Justice Board. Police are pursuing charges related to the illegal abortion and disposal of the foetus.
