**Washington, D.C.** – President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that his upcoming inauguration ceremony will be moved indoors due to an impending Arctic blast expected to hit Washington, D.C. on Monday. Instead of the traditional outdoor ceremony on the Capitol steps overlooking the National Mall, the swearing-in, inaugural address, prayers, and other events will take place inside the Capitol Rotunda.
This marks the first indoor inauguration since President Ronald Reagan’s in 1985, also necessitated by frigid weather. The forecast for Monday predicts temperatures well below freezing, with significant wind chill.
While dignitaries and guests will attend the indoor ceremony, Trump acknowledged the change in plans for his supporters. He stated that a live feed of the event will be shown at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., and that he plans to visit the arena after his swearing-in to greet supporters there. The Presidential Parade will also be held at Capital One Arena. Trump expressed confidence that the Rotunda ceremony will be “a very beautiful experience” and emphasized the large television audience.
