Fri Jan 17 09:04:18 UTC 2025: ## “Muscular Baba” and Other Unique Saints Draw Attention at Maha Kumbh Mela

**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India** – The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is attracting millions of pilgrims, but this year’s gathering features some particularly unique figures. Among the throngs of devotees and sadhus on the banks of the Sangam, a seven-foot-tall Russian saint, known as “Muscular Baba,” has captivated attendees.

Atma Prem Giri Maharaj, originally from Russia, converted to Hinduism 30 years ago, leaving behind a teaching career to dedicate his life to the faith. Now a member of the Juna Akhara monastic order based in Nepal, his imposing physique has drawn comparisons to Lord Parshuram, a powerful avatar of Lord Vishnu. A recent Instagram post showcasing his impressive stature has garnered significant attention online.

Giri Maharaj is not the only individual making headlines at the Mela. Abhey Singh, formerly an aerospace engineer from Haryana, now known as “IIT Baba,” has also abandoned a scientific career for a spiritual path. Another noteworthy figure is Mahant Rajpuri Ji Maharaj, or “Kabootar Wale Baba” (the Pigeon Saint), who has spent almost a decade with a pigeon named Hari Puri perched on his head, symbolizing his philosophy of peace and compassion.

These individuals, among millions of others, are contributing to the spiritual spectacle of the Maha Kumbh Mela, drawing international attention to this significant religious event.
