Fri Jan 17 13:38:00 UTC 2025: ## Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan Jailed After Selling Rare Graff Watch

**ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN** – Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for illegally selling a unique Graff watch gifted to him by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). The watch, featuring a Khana-e-Kaaba design, was part of a gift set presented to the Pakistani state, and its subsequent sale has triggered a major controversy.

Khan’s conviction stems from the Toshakhana case, which centers on the handling of state gifts. Under Pakistani law, officials can retain gifts but must first declare them to the Toshakhana (Treasury) and pay a market value fee. Khan failed to do so, instead selling the Graff watch—reportedly the only one of its kind—through intermediaries to Dubai-based businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor for a reported $12 million. Zahoor confirmed the purchase in a Geo News interview, implicating Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and her close friend, Farah Gogi, in the transaction.

The sale of the exclusive Graff watch, valued far beyond the declared amount, enraged MBS, whose gift was intended as a symbol of goodwill between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, not for personal profit. The incident also brought negative attention to Graff, a prestigious high jewelry house known for its exquisite craftsmanship and possession of legendary stones like the Star of Bombay. Graff’s pieces typically sell for well over $100,000, making the Khana-e-Kaaba watch exceptionally valuable and rare. The watch’s unique design and traceability made the illicit sale easily detectable, contributing to Khan’s downfall.

The case highlights a significant breach of trust and misuse of power. Khan’s actions have damaged diplomatic relations and exposed a potential pattern of mishandling state assets. The 14-year sentence reflects the seriousness of the charges against him, showcasing the severe consequences of corruption within the Pakistani government.
