Fri Jan 17 14:58:35 UTC 2025: **India Appoints New Batting Coach Ahead of England Series**

Kolkata, India – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Sitanshu Kotak as the Indian cricket team’s new batting coach for the upcoming limited-overs series against England. The move comes after criticism of the team’s performance in Australia and follows calls for improvements to the coaching staff.

Kotak, a former Saurashtra stalwart with a strong first-class and List A record, has extensive experience coaching India A. He will join the team for a three-day training camp in Kolkata beginning January 18th, before the five T20Is and three ODIs against England. The first match is scheduled for January 22nd at Eden Gardens.

The decision to add Kotak to the support staff, which already includes head coach Gautam Gambhir, was made following discussions about the team’s recent struggles, particularly their batting. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had previously voiced strong criticism of the coaching staff’s performance during the Australia tour, highlighting a lack of improvement in the team’s batting.

Kotak’s appointment aims to address these concerns and bolster the team’s batting capabilities ahead of the crucial series against England. The BCCI has not yet publicly commented on the specifics of the decision.
