Fri Jan 17 06:39:36 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Woman Found Guilty of Poisoning Ex-Boyfriend

**Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala –** S.S. Greeshma was found guilty on Friday of murdering her former boyfriend, Sharon Raj, by poisoning him. The Additional District Sessions Court in Neyyattinkara delivered the verdict, convicting Greeshma under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder, causing harm with poison, kidnapping with intent to murder, and destruction of evidence. Her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, was also found guilty of assisting in the destruction of evidence. However, Greeshma’s mother, Sindhu, was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

The prosecution argued that Greeshma poisoned Raj with a mixture of paraquat herbicide and an Ayurvedic tonic on October 14, 2022, after he refused to end their relationship despite her marriage to another man. Raj died eleven days later from multiple organ failure. The prosecution relied heavily on scientific and circumstantial evidence, including a previous failed attempt where Greeshma tried to poison Raj with paracetamol-laced mango juice.

Judge A.M. Basheer will pronounce the sentences on Saturday. While Raj’s parents expressed satisfaction with Greeshma’s conviction, they are disappointed by Sindhu’s acquittal and plan to appeal the verdict.
