**Mumbai, India –** Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after undergoing emergency surgery following a stabbing incident at his Mumbai home early Thursday morning. Police have confirmed that an intruder broke into Khan’s residence around 2:30 am, resulting in a scuffle during which Khan was stabbed six times.
Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent a 2.5-hour operation involving neurosurgery and plastic surgery. The hospital reported that Khan suffered a spinal injury with leaking spinal fluid, which has been repaired, along with deep wounds to his hands and neck. Hospital officials confirmed that Khan is now stable and out of danger.
A statement released by Khan’s team expressed gratitude to the medical staff at Lilavati Hospital and thanked fans for their well wishes. The statement confirmed that the rest of Khan’s family, including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their children, are safe. A separate statement from Kapoor Khan’s team also confirmed the family’s well-being.
Mumbai Police have launched a full-scale investigation, forming fifteen teams to track down the suspect. The Crime Branch has reportedly identified a person of interest and is reviewing CCTV footage. The intruder allegedly scaled a wall from an adjacent building to gain access to Khan’s property. Three household staff members are being questioned. An FIR has been filed at the Bandra Police Station.
