**New Delhi, January 17, 2025** – The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, India’s premier auto show, opened today with a flurry of new vehicle launches and a strong emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs). Major players like Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz unveiled a range of models, highlighting India’s growing commitment to sustainable mobility.

Tata Motors stole the spotlight with several announcements. They showcased the Sierra SUV (available in petrol, diesel, and electric variants), the production-ready Harrier EV, and the AvinyaX luxury concept car. Additionally, Tata unveiled a diverse range of commercial vehicles, including electric buses and trucks, showcasing their commitment to multi-fuel technologies.

Maruti Suzuki, aiming to catch up in the EV market, unveiled its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, with production slated to begin in the coming months. Hyundai countered with the launch of the Creta EV, priced at ₹17.99 lakh, and announced plans for a 600-station nationwide fast-charging network.

Luxury brands also made their mark. Mercedes-Benz India introduced the EQS Maybach SUV 680 ‘Night Series’ (₹2.63 crore) and a new variant of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Night Series (₹3.71 crore).

Other significant launches included Ashok Leyland’s new LCV, ‘SAATHI’; SWITCH Mobility’s SWITCH IeV8 electric LCV; Eicher Trucks and Buses’ electric Pro X Range of SCVs; and Hero MotoCorp’s Xoom 160 maxi-scooter. Volvo Trucks showcased its FM 420 4X2 LNG tractor and an FM 4X2 tractor with ADAS. MG Motor India opened pre-bookings for its M9 premium EV. Suzuki also launched the Gixxer SF 250 flex-fuel motorcycle.

Clean Electric’s unveiling of a universal rapid charging system for light electric vehicles promises to address infrastructure challenges hindering EV adoption.

Government officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressed strong support for the auto industry’s growth and India’s ambition to become a global auto manufacturing hub. The expo also saw participation from Chinese automakers, showcasing their latest EVs and technologies.
