Fri Jan 17 13:19:45 UTC 2025: ## International Gender and Technology Conference Opens at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
**KOLLAM, January 17, 2025** – A four-day International Gender and Technology Conference kicked off Friday at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Organized by the university’s School of Social and Behavioural Sciences in collaboration with the UNESCO chair for gender equality and women’s empowerment, the event was inaugurated by Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, Minister of State of Jal Shakti.
High-profile attendees included Mehdi Sneine, UN Tech Envoy Secretary-General; Tim Curtis, UNESCO South Asia Regional Office Director; and Mohammed Kasim, former Chair of IEEE Kerala. Bhavani Rao, Dean of the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony.
The conference, sponsored by IEEE SSIT and its Kerala Chapter, will feature over 50 speakers presenting keynote speeches, participating in a mega hackathon, and leading workshops and exhibitions. The event is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
