**BENGALURU, INDIA – January 16, 2025** – Hindenburg Research, the prominent US-based investment research firm known for its aggressive short-selling campaigns and exposés of alleged corporate fraud, is set to disband, its founder Nathan “Nate” Anderson announced on Wednesday.
In a personal note released by the firm, Anderson cited a desire for a more balanced life and a wish to share the firm’s investigative methodology with a wider audience. Hindenburg, founded in 2017, employed approximately 10 people and gained notoriety for its investigations into companies, resulting in billions of dollars being wiped off their market values. One notable case involved the Adani Group in India, where Hindenburg’s report accused the conglomerate of “brazen corporate fraud.”
Anderson’s statement revealed a deeply personal journey, detailing his humble beginnings and the challenges he faced in building the firm, including initial financial struggles and lawsuits. He emphasized the dedication and talent of his team, describing them as “ruthless assassins” capable of world-class work. He credited their collaborative approach and rigorous focus on evidence as key to their success.
The firm’s impact has been significant, with Anderson noting that nearly 100 individuals have faced civil or criminal charges, at least in part due to Hindenburg’s investigations. While acknowledging the intense nature of the work and its toll, Anderson expressed gratitude for the experience and the positive impact the firm made.
Moving forward, Anderson plans to release a series of materials and videos over the next six months to open-source Hindenburg’s investigative model. He expressed hope that this will inspire others to pursue similar work. He will also support his team members in their future endeavors, some of whom are planning to establish their own research firms.
