**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering well after undergoing emergency surgery for six stab wounds sustained during an attempted burglary at his Bandra home early this morning. Police have confirmed that the 54-year-old actor is now stable and out of danger.
The incident occurred around 2 AM when an intruder, who police believe entered the building via a fire escape, attacked Khan. Khan’s house help alerted him to the intruder’s presence, leading to a struggle during which Khan was stabbed multiple times, including once in the spine.
Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where Khan was admitted, reported that the actor suffered severe injuries to his thoracic spinal cord. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the lodged knife and repair a spinal fluid leak. Additional wounds to Khan’s left hand and neck were also treated. Dr. Dange confirmed that Khan is now stable and recovering well.
Police have identified a suspect and launched a manhunt. Initial investigations suggest the attack was related to an attempted burglary. The intruder reportedly scaled a wall adjacent to the building and used a rear fire escape to access Khan’s apartment. Police are questioning Khan’s house help and investigating the building’s security protocols.
Senior police officer Dixit Gedam stated that the investigation is ongoing and further details will be released upon the suspect’s arrest. The incident has raised questions about security at the high-profile building, which houses several other Bollywood celebrities.
