**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning in a terrifying attack that also injured a nurse and left the family shaken. The attacker, described as a man between 35 and 40 years old, remains at large, despite a massive manhunt launched by Mumbai Police.
Khan, 56, suffered six stab wounds, including one to the neck, during the 2:30 am incident at his apartment in the Bandra West neighborhood. He underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is reportedly out of danger. His son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, reportedly rushed him to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw after their car was delayed.
According to police statements from domestic staff, the attacker, who demanded a ransom of 1 crore rupees (approximately $121,000 USD), initially targeted Khan’s four-year-old son, Jehangir. A nurse, Eliyama Philip, who has worked for the family for four years, was the first to encounter the intruder. She sustained injuries while trying to protect Jehangir. The attacker was armed with a wooden stick and a knife.
Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, were also home at the time of the attack, along with their two sons and five house helps. Police say there were no signs of forced entry, but the attacker apparently scaled a neighboring building and used the fire escape to access Khan’s apartment. CCTV footage captured the suspect fleeing the building.
Mumbai Police have formed twenty teams to track down the suspect, who was seen near the Bandra railway station hours after the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
