**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times during a home invasion at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. The actor, who sustained six stab wounds including one to the neck, underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is reportedly out of danger.
The incident unfolded around 2:30 AM when an intruder, described as a man aged 35-40, entered Khan’s 11th-floor apartment. According to police statements from the domestic staff, the attacker, who demanded a ransom of ₹1 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD), initially threatened Khan’s four-year-old son’s nurse, Eliyama Philip, and another staff member before confronting the actor. Philip sustained injuries to her hands while defending herself.
Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two sons, Jeh and Taimur, were also home at the time of the attack. The intruder, armed with a wooden stick and a knife, allegedly first entered Jeh’s room before encountering the staff. Upon hearing screams, Khan confronted the attacker, resulting in a struggle and the actor being stabbed.
The intruder escaped the scene, with police later obtaining CCTV footage of him fleeing the building. Authorities have formed 20 teams to apprehend the suspect, who, according to police sources, appeared familiar with the building’s layout, entering through a fire escape after scaling a wall from an adjacent property. There were no signs of forced entry into the main building.
While initially believed to be a robbery attempt, the motive remains under investigation. Police are examining all available evidence, including CCTV footage and statements from witnesses. The incident has shocked the Bollywood community and sparked concerns about security in the upscale Bandra West neighbourhood.
