**Chandigarh, January 17, 2025** – A persistent cold wave gripped Punjab and Haryana on Friday, with Pathankot in Punjab recording the lowest temperature at a chilly 2.8°C. According to the meteorological department, Amritsar saw a minimum temperature of 6.9°C (3 degrees above normal), Ludhiana 7.6°C (1 degree above normal), and Patiala 8.4°C. Other minimum temperatures included Bathinda (7°C), Faridkot (6.9°C), and Gurdaspur (6.5°C). The joint capital, Chandigarh, recorded a low of 6.5°C.

In Haryana, Ambala’s minimum temperature was 8.5°C, Rohtak 10.1°C, Karnal 7°C, Narnaul 6°C, and Hisar, Bhiwani, and Sirsa each recorded 7.4°C. The cold weather is expected to continue, according to weather officials.
