**Bengaluru, January 17, 2025** – The Karnataka State government announced a restructuring of the Bengaluru Police Department, appointing B. Ramesh, a 2009 batch IPS officer, as the new Joint Commissioner of Police (East). This marks a change in the post’s ranking; previously held by an Inspector General of Police (IGP), it has been downgraded to a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) rank.
Mr. Ramesh replaces N. Sathish Kumar, who has been promoted to IGP (Headquarters) – 1, Bengaluru. Further changes include the posting of B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda as IGP (Eastern Range), Davanagere. The government has not yet released a statement explaining the reasons behind the restructuring.
