Fri Jan 17 05:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Dafoe Explains Why He’s Never Worked with Woody Allen: “I’m Not Right for His Films”
**London, UK** – Acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe has revealed in a new podcast interview that he has never collaborated with director Woody Allen, attributing the lack of professional interaction to a perceived incompatibility in their styles and personas.
Speaking on *The Louis Theroux Podcast*, Dafoe explained that he doesn’t fit the typical mold of Allen’s actors. “I’m not a New York type, and he really deals in types a little bit,” Dafoe stated. “I’m not like a typical, Jewish New Yorker, and I’m not a blue blood, uptown guy, and he deals a lot in those things.”
Dafoe acknowledged Allen’s extensive career and the evolution of his filmmaking, but also referenced the allegations of sexual assault against Allen, which the director denies. While acknowledging the controversy surrounding Allen’s legacy, Dafoe ultimately concluded that he simply doesn’t see himself as a fit for Allen’s projects. “I’m probably not right for anything that he’s doing,” he said.
This statement aligns Dafoe with several other prominent actors, including Mira Sorvino, Greta Gerwig, Colin Firth, and Rebecca Hall, who have distanced themselves from Allen following the allegations. Allen, who maintains his innocence, has previously dismissed the criticism he’s faced.
