Mon Jan 13 14:05:25 UTC 2025: ## Mysore University Students Protest Examination Fee Hike
**Mysore, January 13, 2025** – Students from the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) staged a protest at Crawford Hall in Mysore today, demanding the University of Mysore (UoM) revoke a recent 10% annual increase in examination fees.
The students argue that the hike, which has pushed the semesterly fee to over ₹3,300, disproportionately affects students from low and middle-income families. AIDSO State Treasurer Subhash Bettadakoppa highlighted the disparity, noting that this fee surpasses the annual tuition fees charged at many government colleges (₹3,000-₹4,000). He accused the university of prioritizing profit over the educational needs of its students, contradicting its founding principles.
The protestors are demanding a complete rollback of the 10% annual fee increase and a reversal of the current semester’s fee hike. The demonstration was attended by AIDSO District President Chandrakala, Secretary Nitin, District Vice-President Swathi, and numerous other students.
