**Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, January 13, 2025** – A flurry of academic events swept across Tamil Nadu this week, highlighting achievements in mathematics, biotechnology, and engineering. National Maths Day celebrations took center stage at several institutions. National College in Tiruchirappalli hosted a “Math Expo and Rally,” featuring quizzes, mental math challenges, and model presentations, with students from Somarasempettai Government Higher Secondary School, Brindavan Vidyalaya School, Sri Vageesha Vidyashram School, KK Nagar Government Higher Secondary School, Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya School, and Rajam Krishnamurthy Public School emerging as top contenders. Kings College of Engineering in Thanjavur also marked the day with exhibitions and a quiz competition involving over 300 students.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph’s College held a conference on “New Paradigms in Biotechnology and Sustainability 2025,” showcasing a newly released patent on a Pipette with pH Meter and announcing the submission of metagenomic DNA results to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the USA. A new book, “Bioinformatics Tools and Techniques – A Practical Manual,” was also launched.

Other notable events included a millet festival at Holy Cross College, Tiruchirappalli, promoting traditional food; a seminar on business innovation at Cauvery College for Women; a national seminar on personalized nutrition at Jamal Mohamed College, sponsored by the DST-SERB and ANRF; and a workshop on Artificial Intelligence at National College.

Furthering research collaboration, the Raman Research Foundation and the Department of Physics, Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Musiri, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate joint research projects in nanomaterials for energy harvesting and storage. A conference on this topic also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award to Ravichandran of A.A.V.M. Sri Pushpam College, Poondi. Finally, Karaikalmedu Government Women’s Polytechnic College held a workshop on digital integrated circuits, empowering its students with practical skills. These diverse events underscore the vibrancy of academic pursuits across Tamil Nadu.
